Whether you live here and just need to set your New Orleans home security and feed the dog to take in a game or you’re travelling from afar, here are a few N.O. haunts you just can’t afford to miss:
Louisiana Superdome: The New Orleans Saints play here and it’s also where the NCAA Sugar Bowl is held each year, too. If you’re looking for an energy filled afternoon or evening you really can’t do any better than a football game here.
New Orleans Arena: The New Orleans Hornets call the Arena home and it’s quite a sight to behold. It’s where the Hornets are slowly working their way back to glory so you can take in a game on the cheap!
Jesters: the NO Jesters play in the US World Development League and if soccer’s your thing you may catch one of the next-big-things by taking in a game here! It’s a great way to entertain the kids, too.

Will Anyone Pass Richard Petty In Wins

The thought of anyone ever doing better than Richard Petty is almost unimaginable. He is the undisputed champion when it comes to Nascar. In many ways he is the Michael Schumacher of American racing. He is a man who won 200 races and SEVEN Nascar titles. There is really no chance that anyone is ever going to get close to him. Chances are that he will have this record all to himself for a very, very long time.

It is not good to tempt fate and there is always a chance that someone even better than Richard Petty will come along. However, nowadays there are so many good teams and so many good drivers that no one can claim they will dominate in the next 5 or 10 years. And, in order to get 200 wins or even close you will have to be amazingly dominant. The next closest person has 105 wins. That is HALF the amount Petty managed in his career. It really means someone will have to be a top driver for 10 years or more and win 5 or 6 Nascar titles in order to even get close to the 200 mark. This is a record that will stand forever, at least for the next 20 or 30 years.

Barry Bonds What Will His Legacy Be

Of all of the controversy in the sports world, baseball’s steroid era is one of the elephants in the room. While icons such as Mark McGwire and Roger Clemens have been reprimanded by the sports world for their use of performance enhancing drugs, the most polarizing of the bunch might be Barry Bonds. Bonds broke the home run record, but many feel that his achievements were a fraud due to his use of PED’s. He is scorned now, but what will his legacy look like a decade or two from now?

The best comparison for Bonds’ situation might be Pete Rose.I found some more information here. Like Bonds, Rose was shunned by the baseball world. In Rose’s case, it was because he was caught betting on games. Also like Bonds, Rose held a coveted record, as he is the all-time leader in hits by a baseball player. Over time, the public seems to have softened on Rose. Many now argue that he should be in the Hall of Fame, though these arguments weren’t heard 20 years ago. Similar sports figures, such as Michael Vick of the Philadelphia Eagles, have been condemned only to be forgiven by the public later on.

Because of this trend of forgiveness of sports figures, it seems likely that Bonds will be forgiven by the public and not viewed with so much scorn. He will always have his detractors, who will claim that he doesn’t deserve the home run record. And that may be true. However, Bonds will probably be remember as less of a cheater in the long run, and more as a guy who was a great player that made a terrible mistake.

What Is The Greatest Sports Rivalry Today

If one were to look at sports from all around the world, then it has to be the rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona. These are two European soccer/football teams that play in Spain. Their rivalry has probably gone on ever since the two clubs were created. Real Madrid is the premier club of Spain’s capital city Madrid. They have won the most La Liga titles and have 9 European cups. They are the club of Spain, or at least that is what they want everyone to believe. In contrast, Barcelona are from the Catalan part of Spain. Historically, Catalonia has always wanted to be different from Spain. They have their own language and they believe that they deserve to be a separate country.

Barcelona even calls themselves “Mes Que Un Club,” which means more than a club. They believe they represent all Catalans and that is what makes them so special. They have the second most La Liga titles and have won 4 European Cup finals. Recently they have been dominating Real Madrid, including winning 5-0 in the league last season and knocking Real out of the Champions League semi finals on route to lifting the trophy.
